I so enjoyed being at Southern Miss! It was a great experience. It really set me up for my first year teaching. I am so glad I went there.
USM has great teachers in the Library Science Department that really care about their students advancement.
One thing I like about Southern Miss are the different opportunities they offer to every student. Emails are sent out each week providing us with information about career fairs, mock interviews, and study abroad dates. Each office is quick to answer any phone call and is very willing to help if we need to be redirected to another office. Something I would like to see changed is the way information is sent out to us. Emails are mainly used at this university but some of the emails are sent to the spam folder instead of the main folder.
This is a great college that offers flexibility and majors for everyone! Southern is a great campus with lots of culture and stuff always going on. The professors and administration really care about its students.
My experience here at the University of Southern Mississippi has been some of the best years in my college career. Not only is there plenty of on-campus activity to partake in, there’s also plenty of of campus activities to attend. The student life on campus is just like any other campus. This school also contains plenty of academic opportunities for all who attends this institution.
My experience at Southern has been average. I enjoy the sports. I enjoy all the activities that are available. If I could change anything, I would change how the staff was involved.
Home away from home. Incredibly happy that I chose this school. Wonderful professors, wonderful students, wonderful band program, overall wonderful place to be. Town is very quainy lovely. Lots of things to do.
Awesome and amazing college to attend and it’s in a very good location not too far from my hometown which made the college transition easier for my family and I
I have gained a lot of knowledge and life skills while attending Southern Miss. The professors here are amazing.
I love Southern Miss because of all of our opportunities on campus. We are able to participate in thousands of things on camps on a daily basis. There are games to attend and to be played. You can also always be able to see someone you know around school.
Southern Miss had always been my dream school. I was more than excited when I found out that I was accepted. I love my university because of a lot of reasons. It's very diverse meaning I can meet different people from different places. The teachers are amazing so I can learn faster and better.
University was an adjustment for me, but USM is amazing. I love the freedom, readily available tutorial and help centers, resources, dining options, and the island in the middle of the lake. When everything is in bloom it's gorgeous, and when everything is gross and snowy and just a mess, they tell you to stay home so nobody gets hurt. They're always improving something. Mental health is an actual concern for them, and they have free counseling services too! So is physical health, and they have a clinic you can get your prescriptions or a check up at. My professors so far are amazing and accommodating, and I adore the classes despite some of them being difficult.
USM is a great school to be involved in. Out of the 12 items listed on this Survey I think academics is the most important. This school is outstanding!
USM is an excellent school that offers a multitude of career paths, including: computer science (my major), nursing, biochemistry, marine biology, business management, and much more. All of the teachers are very nice and lenient. I have never had a teacher out of the three years I've been there that were rude to their students or did not care about their student's learning. I would recommend USM to any upcoming college student that is looking for a less stressful environment than most colleges, but still wish to engage in a college lifestyle.
I am a transfer student here at USM and I love it. I transferred from a small state school so I love the big feel because it isn't to big or too small. I love how it's in a good location. Not too far from any major city. There is just about anything to do if you know people. I definitely recommend coming here for a good, quality education. Only down side is that the food is awful.
During my time at USM, I had the opportunity to meet so many different people through my involvement in student organizations. The university has over 200 student organizations that provide the opportunity for students to find their niche on campus. As a Biology major, the coursework was rigorous, but having graduated I feel prepared for professional school. The faculty and staff offers many opportunities for students to get assistance when needed to assure student success. The university also offers serveral additional resources such as Career Services. I used the services offered by Career Services to help me prepare a coherent resume and to help me prepare for professional school interviews. My experiences at Southern Miss helped moldme into the young adult I am today, and I am forever grateful.
I like that the professors and staff help a lot. They also have a lot of student involvement. I would like to see more variety’s of food places go eat from.
The University of Southern Mississippi has always been a home to me. The atmosphere is so comforting and safe. Anyone wanting to live in a small enough and big enough town would be perfect for this campus. Everyone is so welcoming here.
